Injured puppy, Cosmos, received second chance at life

Cosmos in need of help

Every day, the Nebraska Humane Society is on a mission to save more lives – lives just like Cosmos.

A Good Samaritan found Cosmos, a 7-month old German Shepherd puppy, wandering alone and in pain. He had a broken jaw and was bleeding from his nose. Thankfully, he was taken to a local veterinary clinic where they immediately began treating him with pain medication. The Nebraska Humane Society was contacted to pick him up to ensure he would receive a second chance at a happy, healthy life.

When Cosmos came to NHS, he was in a great deal of anguish and struggled to eat. He needed continued pain medication, surgery to repair his jaw, teeth extracted and a feeding tube to help him receive proper nourishment. We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy healing process and it was going to be expensive. Thanks to donors like you, we knew saving his life would be possible.

Cosmos underwent specialized surgery to repair his jaw at Twin Creek Animal Hospital. He is now healing with the help of a loving NHS foster family, where he is receiving lots of TLC until he is healthy enough to find his forever home.

Because of the incredible collaboration between NHS, local veterinarians and donors like you, Cosmos now has the second chance he deserves. Thank you for helping us save lives!
