Luie's Life Saved

While someone was not kind to Luie, Luie has shown nothing but love, resilience, and affection to everyone around him. He arrived at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter weak and severely emaciated, and we know this guy needed critical help. It was clear that Luie had was neglected for a long time, suffering from several wounds on his paws and legs from long bouts of being crated.
Luie was rushed to the veterinary hospital for evaluation and was placed on long term intensive care, which was funded by Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, the nonprofit fundraising partner of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. Through fundraising efforts, Friends funds critical emergency medical care for pets such as this, giving them a chance to survive. Luie required a blood transfusion, refeeding program, and wound treatment to bring him back to stable health. The road to recovery was long and difficult, but Luie made it out on the other side. Friends was able to support Luie’s intensive care thanks to the generosity of the pet-loving community. If Luie had not received this intensive care, his prognosis was grim.
After months of around the clock care and tons of love provided by those around him, Luie put on weight and made it up to a healthier 45-pounds! Shelter staff and foster families worked diligently with him to help him gain his strength back. There was always hope in Luie’s eyes, and he fought to get through this hardship each day. After he made a successful recovery, a lovely family adopted Luie. Luie’s future is bright, and we have our supporters to thank for his second chance.
