The Power of ONE Year
Jennifer Brame sighed in relief when she received the phone call that Little Light House had a spot in the 2018-2019 school year for her sweet little girl Londyn. “I can’t express the amount of joy I felt when that call came.
Within 4 days of attending LLH, Londyn began to show signs of growth and met milestones Jennifer never dreamed of. “Due to extreme sensory issues I hadn’t been able to get Londyn to go without shoes for anything other than a bath in over a year prior to Little Light House.” Jennifer shared “she even slept in her shoes. I also never saw her let anything dirty touch her feet. Then after 4 days at LLH, I get a picture of her, barefoot, covered in dirt, AND painting her feet with mud!”
At the end of year one, Londyn was doing more than going barefoot. She was actively participating in group therapies – waiting her turn and even helping her friends when they needed it. Her improvements in learning how to tolerate and enjoy messy play carried over into her diet and she started trying a few new foods. She gained some great academic skills and is now able to copy some pre-written shapes and is learning to trace her name and cut with scissors!
“There is this inner peace in this place that words cannot express. The teachers, therapists, staff, and volunteers are amazing of course. But it’s the kids that are truly remarkable! No matter what they are going through they are always smiling. If you ever get the chance to witness these children singing their little hearts out during Praise and Worship, you will see what a true connection to God is all about. The Little Light House is more than just a school, it feels like home.”
