With the help of more than 4,800 volunteers, RedRover Responders provides vital emergency sheltering assistance for animals displaced by natural disasters or rescued from cruelty situations. Grace the Great Dane is one of the many animals who now has a better life thanks to supporters like you through CFC.
I was rescued in January of 2024 with dozens of my friends. I’m told we were part of a severe neglect case. There were a lot of us in one room with not much space. We had to sleep and go to the bathroom on the same floor. I was really dirty when I was rescued, and didn’t smell very good either, but my rescuers didn’t care, they loved me immediately.
We were all loaded onto a big truck. It was a little scary, but soon we came to a stop and the door opened to a group of friendly faces in red shirts. They gently helped us out of our transport crates and the fresh air and soft grass felt so good! I couldn’t remember the last time I was outside. My friends and I drank as fast as we could from the puddles on the ground…I’m not sure when we last had water.
One RedRover staff member quickly connected with me. She got me all settled into my very own clean and comfy room with fresh water and the most delicious dinner! I guess I saw a doctor for dogs? Turns out, it’s amazing I survived untreated – some of my friends didn’t. They named me Grace, and I really am the luckiest girl! I’ve spent the last few months in a wonderful foster home and I am well on my way to a bright future!
