In 2011, Tim was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma in his left leg when he was 11 years old. One year later, having had fourteen rounds of chemotherapy and losing the lower part of his leg all within one year, Tim went to Camp Hobé for the first time. “Camp got me out of my shell. Having to go through cancer and feeling so different from other kids, I just felt awkward and shy. Camp Hobé gave me a place to fit in and feel accepted. That was huge for me as a teenager and I looked forward to going every year.” Being a part of Camp Hobé did not just influence Tim’s life, but his whole family! His three sisters were able to come as campers, and all four of them have returned as counselors to give back. His dad serves on the Board, his wife has joined the volunteer team and they all help with fundraising and raising awareness. Tim is now a Cabin Counselor Leader teaching and inspiring other volunteers to help make an impact on the camper’s lives. “Camp Hobé will always be a part of me. I want to give back so that other kids have a chance to be accepted for who they are and feel like they belong.”

Transcript

Video provides a brief overview of our mission and programs.

40 families in the U.S. will learn their child has cancer today.

Camp Hobé helps families affected by childhood cancer through two powerful tools. . .
1. The great outdoors
2. A community that understands

We provide summer camps and family outings for kids with cancer AND their siblings (they need it too!). Kids, aged 4-19, from throughout the Intermountain West join us in the Utah mountains each year. For fun. . . Games. . . Crafts. . . Swimming – a rarity for kids in treatment. . . Ziplines. . . Campfire songs. . . And, most importantly, feeling like a regular kid.

Just $1 dollar per pay period gives a kid 2-4 hours of fun! They need the community’s support – and each other – to take on some of life’s biggest challenges. Thank you for considering us for your workplace giving!
