Waylon happy and healthy after treatment!

Earlier this year, we at Capital Humane Society received a Heeler puppy named Waylon. He had a history of vomiting and the little pup refused to eat. Our veterinarians examined him and discovered he had a highly contagious infection called Parvovirus.
Unfortunately, even with proper treatment, this infection is often fatal. Our staff provided intensive care, diligently treating the infection and monitoring his progress. He was treated with antibiotics, pain medication, anti-nausea medication, and liters of fluids.
After three days of hospitalization, Waylon made a turn for the better and started to eat on his own again! To protect the other dogs in our shelter, Waylon was secluded in our isolation ward. Staff were required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment when handling or near Waylon.
Once Waylon began to eat again, our veterinary staff felt confident he would continue to trend in a positive direction. We are happy to report, he made a full recovery. He is now at his forever home, happy and healthy as ever. The support we receive from the CFC assisted in Waylon's cost of care and recovery - thank you!
