Chesapeake Cares - More than a Bag of Groceries
Cause of the Week
Video is a compilation of picture stills fading in and out showing Chesapeake Cares volunteers, staff and people we help. Music is over the images as words fade in and out. The CFC Logo and our number are static on the lower right: #35867
This is what is said across the screen:
20 Years Serving the Community - Chesapeake Cares Food Pantry
We are a local feeding organization that distributes an average of 15,000 pounds of food to 1,100 families every week.
"The food has helped when my family was hungry and I did not know where to turn for help."
But we are more than a bag of groceries, we are creating relationships that change individual's lives.
Our partnership with Calvert Health allows us to provide routine health screenings for those who would otherwise not receive medical care.
During the summer, we work with autistic youth in our community to give them practical hands-on serving opportunities that allow them to volunteer and feel accomplished.
"It is fun to come here and doing stuff for other people."
"It feels good to help the community."
"The Chesapeake Cares Food Pantry has helped plenty with care and kindness in lifting my spirits."
"When I did not have enough money to buy groceries, I felt like I was always behind in life. Now I am able to feed my family and save money for other things."
"It is great to have food and be in a safe spot like the Food Pantry."
Thank you for choosing Chesapeake Cares Food Pantry, established in 2001. More than a bag of groceries. https://chesapeakechurch.org/foodpantry
