Within Days of Learning about the critical need for oxygen supplies in the Carolinas, FODAC moved quickly and packed 15 pallets to fulfill the FEMA request. These included 170 oxygen tanks, 30 concentrators, and other items to help Helene survivors with respiratory issues without power. The items were received by FEMA's Erick Nankervis, who took a moment to share why FODAC has been an essential partner during disasters since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
During times of disaster, FODAC is the trusted partner in providing medical and mobility aids to the aging population and people with disabilities. Since Hurricane Katrina, agencies like FEMA and the Red Cross have relied on FODAC's services to provide urgent medical needs to those affected by disaster and in need of mobility. In the last two weeks, FODAC has provided over $250,000 in medical items to help those affected by the recent hurricanes in NC, SC, GA & FL. Items include wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, diapers, oxygen supplies, Hoyer lifts, bariatric items, and more.
