In the beginning, we received a small grant and reached out to local food pantries, asking if they could use extra produce and legumes to offer their clients. We started to offer vegetables, lentils, and split peas to the Erie City Outreach Center. We helped them for nine months, until they had to close their pantry. Not long after, the Mental Health Association offered us a room at their business to have a food pantry there. We were open for four years and served around 60 people each month back then.
As we became more known in our community, social service agencies started contacting us, asking if we would provide food for their clients. Currently we serve eight agencies each month working to get healthy food for their clients. We are committed to helping approximately 500 people each month.

At the Healthy Vegetarian Food Bank, we partner with social service agencies to provide fresh, plant based foods to those in need. This ensures we are helping both people and the planet. Each month, we coordinate with agencies to ensure timely food deliveries. Our dedicated volunteers driven by love and concern, make it all possible. By focusing on plant-based foods we also reduce the suffering of farm animals in the food industry. Our mission extends beyond people - caring for the environment too. Meat production consumes precious resources; switching to plant foods means more land and water for everyone. Join us in feeding people, saving animals and protecting our planet. Your support can make a world of difference. Donate today and be a part of this compassionate journey.
