CHARITY STORY
Carlos the Puppy

Carlos Posing for a Photo

Carlos came to PHS/SPCA through our after-hours kennels, with very little information. He was a tiny puppy who was a little shy at first, but quickly warmed up to people. During his intake veterinary exam, he was diagnosed with a viral infection called papillomatosis, which caused contagious wart-like growths on his ears which can be transmitted to other dogs through direct contact. He was quarantined while still receiving all the care and love he needed from staff and volunteers. He was treated with antibiotics and antifungal medications for a couple weeks. Once the lesions cleared, he became available for adoption and found his forever family in just two days!

Willy the One-Eyed Cat
Transcript

0:00 Willy was a stray who arrived with a terrible upper respiratory infection that had spread into his developing eyes.
0:07 He was just barely one month old.
0:11 To help him overcome his respiratory infection, he was placed in a foster home to receive one-on-one care.
0:17 The infection had stunted the growth of his right eye causing discomfort. To eliminate any chance of the infection spreading, we removed the infected right eye.
0:26 To help his remaining eye, our veterinarians prescribed eye drops to sooth the eye and clear the last bit of cloudiness that did not fade from the infection.
0:34 When he got the adoption floor, he was a little shy. But he loved to play.
0:39 Staff and volunteers knew it was a purr-fect match when Willy walked right up to the couple who would soon become his fur-ever family.
0:48 His family affectionately calls him their “King of Pirates”
0:53 Happy Tails, Willy! Uh, I mean – Happy Tails, King of Pirates!
