We adopted Duke as a puppy from a rescue group and trained him for 2 years, close to 2,000 hours. When he was close to graduation from our training program, we reviewed our large stack of applications, and chose 3 potential matches to Duke's temperament, size, energy level, and skill set. When we introduced Duke to these 3 potential recipients, Duke chose Kate. The chemistry between them was instant, and very obvious. Our dogs are the ultimate decision maker of who they'll assist. We've found that when the dog picks their person, the natural chemistry between them creates magic. Duke immediately matched Kate's slow, uneven gait. Now, after being together 1.5 years, Duke has added tasks to the original list we trained him for, as Kate's needs have increased. They're a happy, loving service dog team. We're so proud of both of them!
