CHARITY STORY
3AM Wakeup Call
Photo Caption
Advocate and survivor.

Most of us know that sinking feeling when the phone rings in the middle of the night. As we groggily awaken, a sense of panic sets in—nothing good ever happens at 3am. On the other end, it's usually a call we dread, a crisis for which we never feel prepared.

But for our advocates, those 3am calls are not unusual; they’re part of the job. And they are ready and prepared. They know that on the other end of the line, there is likely a crisis unfolding. Whether it's a law enforcement officer asking them to accompany a recovery or a victim reaching out for help, our advocates don’t hesitate—they go.

They rise from their beds and head into the night, knowing they might be at the hospital for hours. They sit with the victims, advocating for them as they receive emergency care, helping them navigate the next steps, providing food, and finding shelter for the days to come.

I see firsthand that our advocates are the hands and feet of Jesus, often during these early morning hours.

Their dedication and compassion are extraordinary.

I am incredibly proud of our advocates and the selflessness they demonstrate with every call they take, even in the dead of night. They never complain, never seek recognition, and often, their dedication goes unnoticed. Sometimes, I don’t even realize they’ve spent the entire night at the hospital, sitting beside someone in their most vulnerable moments. Their unwavering commitment embodies the true spirit of service, and I am honored to stand alongside them in this vital work.

But we can’t do this alone. Our advocates need your support to continue answering these calls and providing critical assistance to those in need. Your donation can help ensure that when the phone rings at 3am, our advocates are there to answer it. Please consider making a contribution today to help sustain this life-changing work. Together, we can make a difference—one call at a time.

Journey to Restoration: Surviving Human Trafficking
Transcript

If you have ever been the victim of loss or trauma, you know that healing is not linear. Our survivors experience the same thing, journeying through grief, sorrow, getting to know a life free from exploitation, a life where they are free to make their own decisions and have ownership over their own future sometimes for the first time in their lives.

This work started with one survivor in our own community, and since that time, we've grown to serve in over 13 locations around the world. Our amazing staff operate a 24 7 hotline, giving survivors access to this critical help.

From the moment a victim escapes and is connected with us, advocates provide trust-based relationship, and comprehensive practical support as a journey to restoration. First, they start with safety. They sit with survivors and actually write a safety plan, and ensuring that the survivors have the proper safety measures in place, physically and online.
