By steadily increasing the number of vegans via the programs below, Vegan Outreach is laying the groundwork to reach a tipping point in which sweeping public policy changes for animals will become realistic.10 Weeks to Vegan“I'm grateful to have found this group. I'm alone on my vegan quest IRL. And other FB groups had trolls or intense points of view, complicated recipes, etc. I love the environment of this community. I've already set aside several recipes to try and deeply appreciate the supportive atmosphere. I just want to learn, eat healthy plant based meals, and connect with others doing the same.”We created the online program 10 Weeks to Vegan based on research showing that veg challenges are effective ways to facilitate change. We now have 63 different 10 Weeks to Vegan series tailored to 59 countries and regions. Over 1.5 million people have signed up since the beginning of 2019. Support for Making ChangesWe have 49 Facebook support groups all over the world, with trained moderators and a dietitian to answer questions. Over 6,000 people join these groups each month.Vegan Chef ChallengesThese month-long events create a positive buzz about veganism in areas that don’t normally have many options. The majority of restaurants retain their most popular vegan items. We held challenges in 30 cities in 2023.The challenges receive positive media coverage, such as our May 2023 Amarillo challenge that received no less than eight news segments on Channel 4 KMAR!Green Tuesday InitiativeOur India team works with institutions in India and Vietnam to add vegan options. We’ve helped 53 educational institutions reduce large quantities of animal products from their menus.
