The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is one of the oldest and busiest wildlife hospitals in the world, admitting animals from 200 different species. Our supporters ensure our services are accessible and free of charge to those who bring us injured, sick, and orphaned wild animals.

In July, we admitted an emaciated juvenile Red Fox suffering from mange. Left untreated, severe cases of mange lead to emaciation, anemia, and eventually death. A family had enjoyed watching this fox grow up in their neighborhood, and were distressed to notice he was gradually becoming weaker, skinnier, and failing. They knew WRC was uniquely suited to help.

Upon arrival the medical team confirmed that the fox had lost a dangerous amount of weight, and his vitals indicated that his body was on the verge of shutting down. A blood transfusion from a donor dog, multiple medications, stabilizing care, and a special diet put him on the road to recovery. After 40 days he was released back into his wild home.

Compassion is at the heart of WRC’s mission. Equal to the kindness of taking the time to bring in an animal is the generosity of funding the treatment and rehabilitation needed for recovery. We are honored to be part of a community where compassion unites humans and wildlife.

Thank you for donating generously to WRC!

Compassion at the Core of WRC's Mission
Transcript

At the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, compassion is the cornerstone of our mission.

Our story began in the 1970s with the compassion of veterinary students who saw the need for medical care for wildlife. We have since grown into one of the oldest and busiest centers of its kind in the world.

We admit more than 20,000 animals each year, and this reflects the community's deepening concern for wildlife.

Animals are only at our center as long as they need medical care and rehabilitation, and then it is our joy to release them back into the wild.

We are proud to offer our services free of charge, but that doesn’t mean that this care is free. Our mission relies on the compassion of donors like you.

One donor said, “I think many people leave WRC feeling empowered to act again on their impulses to help whether it’s another animal, a person, a habitat, whatever might touch their hearts.”

Compassion unites everyone who supports WRC. Thank you for joining in our mission.
