America SCORES Cleveland (SCORES) Board of Directors has appointed Alison Black to serve as Executive Director of SCORES. She is responsible for all aspects of leading and steering the organization, including board and staff management, multi-faceted fundraising, strategic planning, program implementation and expansion, and financial management.
Through daily, team-based soccer and writing workshops and annual community service projects, SCORES measurably improves fitness, literacy, and communications skills, and empowers kids to create change in their communities.
America SCORES Cleveland serves more than 2,000 students, grades 1-8, through partnerships with the Cleveland Metropolitan schools and community organizations across the city through afterschool and summer collaborations.
Black brings nearly a decade of experience advancing opportunities for communities, youth, and families. Previously, she served as the Associate Director of SCORES. Prior to joining SCORES, Black served as a Case School Site Coordinator for the Rainey Institute providing social work services to families and children and collaborating with community-based providers.
“We look forward to seeing America SCORES Cleveland continue to grow and flourish under Alison’s leadership,” said SCORES Board Chair, Lyle Leavitt. “Alison is passionate about serving Cleveland youth and has developed strong relationships with members, funders, and allies.”
Black steps into this leadership role as her colleague and outgoing Executive Director, Debi Pence-Meyenberg leaves the organization, after fifteen years of service.
