The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides more than 60 scholarships to the brightest and most talented college students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Our mission is to aid the United States in retaining its world leadership in technology and innovation by supporting the very best and brightest scholars in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while commemorating the legacy of America’s pioneering astronauts.
In 1986, the Foundation awarded seven scholarships honoring the Mercury 7 astronauts in the amount of $1,000 each. Today, the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation awards top students’ merit-based scholarships up to $17,000 at participating universities.
The Astronaut Scholarship also provides mentorship, professional development, connections to industry leaders, and the confidence for our scholars to continue to thrive. Throughout every scholar’s path, ASF is dedicated in providing support to help advance their careers.
See what our scholars say:
“ASF believed in me when my own belief in myself wavered and pushed me to continue to shoot for the moon. I could not be more grateful.” -Samantha Sequeira, 2022 Florida Tech Astronaut Scholar
“It really allowed me to focus on the academic goals and be less worried about the financial path to get there. More importantly though, I think the prestige paid dividends during my graduate school application process.” -Cole Kazemba, 2009 University of Minnesota Astronaut Scholar
