Art is powerful. At the Chesapeake Arts Center (CAC), we believe art has transformed and impacted lives of thousands of children and families in our Brooklyn Park community in a powerful way. Building upon more than 20 years of experience, we showcase art that reflect the stories, history, and heartbeat of our community. We not only pass the power of art on to the next generation through access and education, but we connect thousands of people – each one of them empowered to make our community stronger. This is the core of what we do at the Center Arts Center.

Our mission: “to foster creativity, create connections, and inspire joy by delivering innovative and accessible arts and education programs.”
Our vision is: to be the region’s premier arts center, inspiring people of all ages and backgrounds to connect, create, and experience the joy of the arts.”

CAC carries out its mission year-round by sponsoring and presenting arts education classes and workshops in visual arts, performing arts, dance, and STEAM (STEM plus Arts) in classrooms, studios, and our Michael Stanley MakerSpace; organizing and presenting exhibitions in two galleries and other exhibit spaces; sponsoring performances in two theaters; and hosting several community events.

Our history: Chesapeake Arts Center opened to the public in 2001 to serve the greater Brooklyn Park community, including Baltimore City and Northern Anne Arundel County. Located in an economically depressed area, the Brooklyn Park Community Complex now includes a 741-seat theater, MakerSpace offering family workshops in a collaborative environment, STEAM classes, and Open Studio space to create, and innovate. The complex includes a senior center, and Brooklyn Park Middle School, one of two Performing & Visual Arts (PVA) magnet middle schools in Anne Arundel County. We are in one of the highest poverty areas of northern Anne Arundel County where each year, we serve over 50,000 residents, primarily, children, youth, and families.

CAC’s Scholarship Fund: Provides creative arts experiences to local students to access CAC’s arts classes, after-school, and weekend family workshops for free, or at reduced cost. Your scholarship gift and tax-donation is 100% deductible, and will help provide uplifting arts experiences to children, youth, and families all year long!

Thank you for your investment in CAC and for believing in the power of the arts to transform lives and positively impact our community.
