Fighting Hunger in Our Community

Local Drive Thru and Mobile Pantries Feed The Community

“No one should have to worry about not having enough food to eat”. Thelma is a senior that we see regularly at our Drive Thru Pantry. She’s on a fixed income and loves our Drive Thru because she doesn’t even have to get out of her car, which is great because she’s not able to stand in stores very long, being close to 80 years old. She’s able to pick up for two other families and enjoys doing so because it gets her out of the house, and she says she gets some time to sit in her car and relax while everyone else does the heavy lifting.
We opened our Drive Thru with the intention of using it to help our partner agencies have somewhere to load food into their cars but then, shortly after, Covid 19 happened. We decided to open the Drive Thru to the public during the Covid 19 Pandemic because we saw how many families were going without food whether it’s due to a layoff, being sick, or just lack of resources. We have kept it open ever since seeing how many families need to utilize this in our community.
Nearly every week we see a rise in neighbors coming to us for assistance. As of October 2023, The Foodbank’s programs have been utilized 18% more than in November 2023. That alone is proof that the need for these kinds of programs is necessary.
Programs like our Drive Thru, Good to Go Backpacks, and mobile pantries wouldn’t be possible without our donors and volunteers and your time and donations can make a difference in our fight against hunger.
