"At age 22, I became pregnant and had no health insurance. I was living in poverty and thought my life was over. Thinking about paying for an abortion wasn’t fathomable, and raising a child wasn’t an option. At Planned Parenthood, I was provided with sympathetic care, abortion services, and birth control options. I was scared and was guided through the experience with such grace. I continue to get regular STI testing through Planned Parenthood and want to find ways to help other people access Planned Parenthood’s services. I am grateful for my experiences and am excited to give back!"
"54 years ago, I needed birth control pills. I was 16 and truly scared walking into the Planned Parenthood clinic. After all this time, I still remember a nurse who was so kind and caring. I am donating because all patients who need whatever PPCW can provide deserve the same acceptance. Thank you for being there."
"I first started going to Planned Parenthood when I became sexually active as a teen. I came from a low-income home and didn’t have a job, but Planned Parenthood always took care of me and made sure I had access to birth control and reproductive healthcare no matter how much money I had at the time. When I was 24, my boyfriend (now husband) and I got pregnant unexpectedly. We found this out the same month I was set to walk for my graduation with my Master’s degree, and I couldn’t see myself finishing the degree, moving, and applying for jobs while pregnant and then leaving my first teaching job mid-year. Not to mention, maternity leaves are covered with sick pay that I hadn’t earned yet. We knew we weren’t ready, so we decided to terminate the pregnancy. I finished my degree, started my career, got married, bought a house. Later, we wanted, planned, and tried for our two children. Our first was born four days after I turned 30, and I became a stay-at-home mom with the birth of our second child because we could actually afford it. Thanks to Planned Parenthood, I was literally able to plan my parenthood. I am volunteering with them because I don’t think my life would be the same without them. I am so grateful for my life and children, and it all happened on my terms because of the support of Planned Parenthood."
