It Takes Little To Be Big

Tyler (mentor) is a part of our Beyond School Walls Program that allows high school students to come to his workplace and learn about life skills and career exploration. Tyler has been at his job for almost 3 years now and works as a Fabrication Lead. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife & kids, hanging out with friends, playing fantasy football, farming, and just being outside. When Tyler heard about the Beyond School Walls program, he thought it would be a good opportunity for him to join. He expressed that he wanted to become a Big so that he could share his life experiences in hopes in helping someone else. He enjoys working with youth because you get to see their personality and teach them new things. He is currently matched with his Little Justin (mentee) and together they enjoy learning about the skills it takes for you to be successful in life and working. They also enjoy playing games together, talking about school, and eating snacks. Throughout the match, Justin has taken pride in his grades and looks forward to sharing with Tyler how much he has improved. Justin expressed that he has enjoyed his time with Tyler and believes he’s been a great role model for him. He enjoys that they can have fun together and can’t wait to learn more from his mentor.
