Meet Royce, a 2-year-old Standard Poodle, who was left abandoned on the side of the road with a rope tightly bound around his snout. Fortunately, a compassionate passerby discovered Royce, his gentle eyes pleading for help, and without hesitation, she welcomed him into her vehicle to take him to safety at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Upon carefully freeing Royce from the rope binding his muzzle, the horrifying damage inflicted upon him was revealed. The rope, left to rot and tear into his flesh, had left painful lesions that served as a grim reminder of the cruelty he endured. Determined to give Royce the life he deserved, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay medical team immediately started treatment to heal his wounds. Under the compassionate care of shelter veterinarians, Royce's physical wounds were treated and surgery was performed to fix the damage around his snout. It was also discovered that his suffering extended far beyond his face. Infected ears and bruising on his body showed the immense pain he had endured. Yet, despite the horrors he had faced, Royce's spirit remained unbroken and he loved to spend time with people. He was so excited to get adopted and go home with his new family!

Last year, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay saved over 13,000 animals, cared for almost 40,000 patients at our low-cost Animal Hospital, and provided over 165,000 pounds of free pet food to help people in need keep their pets at home. We could not save the lives of animals like Royce without your help. Together, we can provide loving care and medical treatment for thousands of animals in Tampa Bay. Thank you for your support!
